What leads us to Leeds?

For a culture fix, there’s the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition and top international performing companies like the Opera North, Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre.

Leeds is said to be in pole position to be crowned the first British City of Culture – and if successful will host a year-long arts programme as well as being the venue for events normally held in London, such as the Turner Prize, BBC Sports Personality of the Year, the Brit music awards and the Baftas.

Shopping opportunities couldn’t be better - Leeds is Yorkshire and Humberside's prime shopping location with eclectic boutiques amidst architectural surroundings in the Victoria Quarter and Corn Exchange, plus all the favourite high-street and aspirational brands in Leeds Shopping Plaza and The Light.

For entertainment, Leeds is a night owl with a wide choice of restaurants, bars and clubs – with something going on to suit everyone and appeal to every taste.

Leeds’ sports heritage can’t go without mention. Sport is core to Leeds’ culture – there’s the rich history of Leeds United and Elland Road; Leeds Rhinos in Rugby League and Leeds Carnegie in Rugby Union are amongst the most supported teams in the country. Then there’s Headingley Carnegie Stadium with Anthony McGrath’s Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

Access to Leeds couldn’t be easier thanks to the M1 and the M62 motorways, London being only two hours away by train and scheduled flights coming in to Leeds Bradford International Airport from all over the UK and Europe.
